learn to “un-wind”
In the New Testament, the book of Mark
Mark 4:37-41
“And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And He was in the hinder part of the ship asleep on a pillow, and they awake Him, and say unto Him, ‘Master, carest thou not that we parish?’ And Jesus arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, ‘peace, be still.’ And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. And He said unto them, ‘Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?”
The first thing I noticed of course! Is that in this scripture, Jesus was not worried about the storm at all! He’s SLEEPING THROUGH IT! While the men are freaking out!
Then, when they do wake Him, He immediately rebukes that wind! And then, there is calm….
I like to call it “a circus,” some people say, “dramatic,” but we all have been in a situation where it just seems to get blown out of proportion! Now, don’t get me wrong, that looks like a pretty wild storm they’re in, BUT THEY HAVE JESUS IN THE BOAT WITH THEM THE ENTIRE TIME!!!
The men know the power He has, but they are focusing on the power of the storm instead.
That is why Jesus asks them, where is their faith?
So many situations are like the wind. They blow into our lives and create large wild storms that captivate us, and hold us in fear, while we to should be looking for our LORD, we tend to get swept up in that wind and we forget where we SHOULD BE FOCUSING, where the REAL POWER LIES, OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. He is the creator of the wind and He can stop or start it, as He chooses.
This website is designed to help guide us to look towards the LORD and rest, rest in His power, and trust, trust in His care to calm all of those big winds in life.
